Juniors dominate the derby, U15 celebrates two wins!

Last weekend, 12–13 September, was packed with American football for the Prague Lions. Three of our teams were in action – the women in the flag football cup, plus the U15 and the U19 juniors. Our youth teams won every game, and the women picked up their first win of the new cup season. U19: Juniors take the Prague derby On Sunday the Prague Lions juniors beat their city rivals Prague Black Panthers 48:13. The game was decided mainly in the first half, when they put 41 points on the board. Denis Kadrle shone with three touchdowns, Jonatan Štuburek scored twice, and Matyáš Hora and Matěj Toman added one touchdown each. U15: Two wins and second place in the table Our U15 played a tournament in Bělá pod Bezdězem on Sunday. First they comfortably beat the hosts, Bělá Raiders, 66:6. In the second game, against Vysočina Gladiators, the young Lions had to turn the game around. Trailing 18:20 at half-time, they produced a great second half and won 40:20. The standout player of the tournament was David Moravec, who scored ten touchdowns in total. The Lions have strengthened their hold on second place in the West group with a record of 12 wins and 4 losses. Women: First win in the flag football cup On Saturday in Bukovec, the women's team opened the new season of the flag football cup. The Lionesses started the tournament with a 27:6 win over Pilsen Patriots. In their next two games, however, they were no match for Příbram Bobcats (0:66) and Prague Black Panthers (0:52). They leave the opening tournament with one win and two losses, currently third in the table. What's next weekend? On the weekend of 19–20 September the women's team continues in the flag football cup, this time in Brno. The U15 and U19 teams have a bye and will not play any league games.

Girls in Brno!

Seven brave lions! The Prague Lions finished the tournament in Brno with a victory The Prague Lions women's team played the second round of the Women's Flag Cup in Brno on Saturday, September 19. The lionesses took on only seven players, most of whom had to play both offense and defense. After the initial defeats with Příbram Bobcats (0:64) and Brno Sígrs (0:52), the deserved victory over ISMM Ostrava Steelers came 33:12. The lionesses dominated the first half 20:0 and kept the lead until the end. The touchdowns were taken care of by Laura Hudrmentová (3) and Arina Juhászová Kolesnikova (2). Monika Kalinová and Markéta Mrvová alternated as quarterbacks. Tereza Chaloupková shone in defense with two interceptions! Despite the narrow squad and minimal substitution, the Lionesses showed a significant improvement over the previous tournament. The team is gradually playing, gaining experience and the victory over Ostrava is a well-deserved reward for the work done.

The Lions U19 dominated the home game against Znojmo. In Hostivař, they won 39:0

Junior Prague Lions had a great home game. On Sunday, September 27, she started in Hostivař against Znojmo Knights and won 39-0 after a dominant performance. The Lions took an active part in the match and were already in the lead in the first quarter. Our defense by the mistake of the opponent prepared our attack a great position and Denis Kadrle ran after a five-yard run for the first touchdown match. Although the confirmation attempt was unsuccessful, an important 6:0 was lit up on the scorecard. In the second quarter, the home team significantly increased their lead. Kadrle first added his second touchdown, this time after a 50-yard run, followed by Jonatan Stiburek, who beat his defensive opponent to the endzone and added more points after a 27-yard run. By halftime, Kadrle had added his third touchdown on the ground and the Lions were leaving for the locker rooms at 25-0. Even after the break, the Lions did not relent. Right at the beginning of the third quarter, Matěj Toman took care of other points, scoring after an 80-yard kickoff retour. Toman confirmed his touchdown and kick for 1 point, increasing the Lions' lead to 32:0. The last points of the match came in the fourth quarter, when Jonatan Stiburek added his second touchdown in the match after a five-yard run and Matěj Toman subsequently turned the kick. The final score was 39:0 for the Prague Lions. The match in Hostivař lasted 2 hours and 8 minutes and was watched by 94 spectators. It was also the second match against Znojmo in this year's junior league for the Lions. Both teams met at the beginning of September in Znojmo and the home game was an opportunity for the Lions to build on the successful entry into the season. The basic part of the junior league continues for our pack on October 3, when they will play against the Prague Mustangs. The entire Sunday match could also be watched by fans via online stream, so even those who could not come directly to Hostivař this time could get to the match. Prague Lions U19 thus performed a very convincing performance in front of domestic fans and scored an important victory of 39:0. 🦁🏈

U19 deklasovala Prague Mustangs 75:14

The Prague Lions juniors scored a clear victory on Friday, October 3, when they won 75:14 on the Prague Mustangs course. The Lions decided practically in the first half. In both opening quarters, the opponents scored 27 points and went to the dressing rooms with a lead of 54:14. In the second half, the Lions' defense no longer allowed the home team to score, and the attack added another 21 points. At the same time, high management made it possible to give more space to backup players and involve a wider part of the team in the match, which thus gained important gaming experience. Prague Mustangs – Prague Lions 14:75 (7:27, 7:27, 0:14, 0:7) The next match awaits the juniors on October 25 at 14:00 on the home pitch in Hostivař.
